Peg Parnevik, who sits on this year’s “Idol” jury, has the podcast “Peg & Penny” together with her sister Penny Parnevik. Every Friday they release a special episode dedicated to the week’s “Idol” program. In the eighth special episode, Peg Parnevik tells us that she received a statement from the production about the content of the podcast.
– People seem a little supported by the podcast. Agreements were brought up here and there, so I don’t know how much I dare say, but I got a call that was “you guys have to stop”. We have to calm down and maybe not go in so hard, she says in the episode.
According to her, the reason for the conversation is that the production felt that they expressed themselves too harshly about the idols, and that some participants took offense. However, Parnevik says that she stands by everything she said in the podcast.
Participant: “A little ugly”
She also says that the idea with the special episodes has been to give the listeners a picture of what happens behind the scenes on the program and to be able to talk freely about the program.
– I’m sorry if this podcast has caused people to take offense. That’s really not my intention, and the whole point is just to say that being an artist is hard as hell. We just want you to be strong and the best artists you can be, she says.
The event is already overplayed, according to both the production and the participants that TV4 Nyheterna spoke to.
“Idol” participant Victoria Grace Larsson says she understands why the production moved. She says she didn’t appreciate the way the Parnevik sisters talked about her performance after the first Saturday final.
– They thought I was one of the worst that night, it was a bit rude in that episode. I think they have expressed themselves very clumsily, but since she got the call things have gotten better. Now it’s only constructive criticism, so it’s only good, she says.
“Had to take her by the ear”
“Idol’s” executive producer, Malin Knave, talks about the reason behind the production’s decision to speak out about the podcast.
– Peg is new to the jury. We love her and she is great to have around. Sometimes things get a little out of hand and in this case we had to listen to her a little, because there was a bit of anxiety in the camp, she says and continues:
– We have constant communication with each other within production, so it wasn’t a big deal.
