Pedestrian injured in assault robbery in Hagersville

A pedestrian was injured in an assault and robbery involving multiple people in Hagersville early Saturday morning.

Haldimand OPP say the pedestrian was approached by ‘multiple individuals’ at about 1 am on Main Street South.

“Multiple individuals approached a pedestrian, proceeded to physically assault the victim, and struck them with an unknown object,” said a media release.

The individuals then left the scene with the pedestrian’s cellphone.

The pedestrian was transported to hospital for treatment.

Police have released descriptions of two of the suspects.

One is described as an Indigenous male, 20-30 years old with a medium skin complexion, large build, and a long beard. The second suspect is described as a Caucasian male, 20-30 years old with a medium build, and a long beard.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area at that time with dashcams or security cameras to check their footage for anything suspicious.
