PEAKY BLINDERS SEASON 6. The sixth season of Peaky Blinders is available on Netflix. A moving tribute is given to Polly Gray, whose interpreter Helen McCrory died before filming.
[Mis à jour le 10 juin 2022 à 15h01] Peaky Blinders signs its final season on June 10, 2022. Netflix has released season 6, which definitively concludes the series on the Shelby clan. During these last episodes, a character will unfortunately shine by his absence: it is Poly Gray. His interpreter, Helen McCrory, died on April 16, 2021 from cancer. Filming had not yet started. The first episode of the season is also dedicated to her, and the reasons for Polly’s absence are detailed from the first episode of season 6.
As a result, the Peaky Blinders creative team was forced to rewrite the Polly storyline in Season 6. Warning, spoilers. During the first episode, already broadcast on the BBC on February 27, we discover that Polly is dead, murdered by Captain Swing to send a message to Tommy. The first minutes of episode 1 of season 6 are thus dedicated to Polly’s funeral in a roundabout way of paying a final tribute to Helen McCrory.
According to Digital Spy, screenwriter Steven Knight explained that “Losing Helen was, in itself, a tragedy. One of the consequences of this, however, was to have to think about a new structure which changed over time. as her state of health deteriorated… Until it was known that there would be no Polly [dans la saison 6]. We had to talk about this situation and we had to offer an end worthy of this character. The only thing we could do was address the loss of that character.”
