PC Connect rides free on Black Friday

Perth County’s five inter-regional transit routes will be running free of charge on Black Friday, a promotion officials hope will mean extra business for local shops.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer residents free transportation to support our local businesses and take advantage of upcoming holiday deals,” said Maggie Kerr, the county’s transit project co-ordinator. “We are also celebrating two years of PC Connect and, in turn, two years of improved quality of life for many of our residents. This promotion not only encourages residents to support local, but also encourages residents to get out and try the service.”

PC Connect launched in November 2020 with funds from the province’s Community Transportation Grant Program. Since then, more than 11,500 riders have used the bus service, according to Perth County’s figures. Its five routes run Monday to Saturday, connecting Perth County municipalities to each other and Southwestern Ontario’s urban hubs in Kitchener and London.

Free rides will be available all day on Nov. 25. Riders are being encouraged to secure a seat in advance through the Blaise Transit app or by calling 1-888-465-0783. Select “pay on board” when booking through the app since drivers will not be collecting fares.
