After a night with several emotional performances, it was finally clear that Paulina Velasquez Gallegos will be leaving Idol in the third Saturday finale. She was pitted against participant Lucas Schönefeld who also hung loose at the end of the program.
– It’s tough, either you’re left without Lucas or you’re not left at all. It’s plague or cholera, she said before the news came.
She is both proud and grateful for her Idol journey, and for the other participants.
– I feel well. I am very happy and very proud of everyone. I look forward to continuing to see you develop, she said on the program, breaking down in tears. Even several of the other Idols had difficulty holding back the tears.
Emotional performances
After the announcement, Paulina Velasquez Gallegos ran down from the stage to hug her father, Diego, who has supported her throughout her Idol journey.
The theme for the evening was songs in Swedish, something that was emotional for several of the participants. Both Margaux Flavet and Joel Nordenberg had difficulty holding back tears after their performances. After Olivia Oyemade Merenius’ performance of Thomas Stenström’s “Do you see the moon where you are tonight?” jury member Anders Bagge was noticeably moved.
