Patrik Laines former competition partner in an icy finish pace

Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs has scored no less than five hat tricks in the current NHL season.

Leading the NHL’s scoring market Austin Matthews already scored his fifth hat trick of the season when the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4–3 in overtime.

Matthews’ hat-trick was so-called clean, as he didn’t score a single goal into an empty net.

The 26-year-old American’s ability to score hat-tricks is impressive, as he is only the third player in the last 30 seasons to hit five hat-tricks in one season. Mario Lemieux was able to do this in the season 1995–1996 and Jonathan Cheechoo 18 years ago.

The Toronto superstar has scored a whopping 45 goals in 51 matches this season. Matthews still has 30 regular season games to improve his readings.

Magic border laundry broken?

The American is still on a whirlwind season at this stage, at the pace of 71 goals. With plenty of games still to go, it’s still entirely possible that Matthews will break the 70-goal mark.

Breaking 70 goals is really rare in the NHL. The last time this was done was in the season 1992–1993, when Alexander Mogilny and played in his rookie season Teemu Selänne scored no less than 76 goals.

At the 2016 NHL draft before Patrik Laineta the reserved Matthews has been transformed into a ferocious goal gun during his NHL career. For example, he has scored at least 40 goals in no less than six seasons.

Two years ago, he forged his single-season scoring record, 60 hits. Matthews, who is playing in his eighth season, has scored 344 goals during his entire NHL career.

Matthews and Patrik Laine were once heavily compared. Laina was considered the harder scorer, but the duo’s careers have since gone in different directions. The first NHL game of Matthews’ career was memorable, as he scored no fewer than four goals.

Despite Matthews’ high scoring rate, Toronto is having trouble making it to the spring playoffs. In the tough Eastern Conference, it is not locked in a direct playoff spot at this moment.

Lundell continued his good tune

The Florida Panthers, who are playing their third NHL season Anton Lundell has gotten into a good mood lately. The Finn who scored two goals the night before scored two points in the second game in a row.

Lundell scored 1+1 when Florida defeated Buffalo 4–0 in the away bowl. Alexander Barkov scored two goals.

In the light of points, Lundell, who had a poor early season, has scored eight points in the last ten games.

Dallas Miro Heiskanen got a taste of the goal when the Stars bluntly crushed the Nashville Predators 9–2 in the away arena. The goal was the Finnish defender’s sixth of the season.

Enjoyed a four-point night this week Artturi Lehkonen scored 1+1 when the Colorado Avalanche lost to Tampa Bay 3–6.

Among the Finns, the Seattle Kraken also managed to score Eeli Tolvanenof the New York Rangers Kaapo Kako as well as the San Jose Sharks Mikael Granlund.
