Patrik Laine scored the Montreal Canadiens’ only goal in regular time. The match ended victoriously in overtime.
Patrik Laine the expected return to the NHL rinks after almost a year’s break could not have gone better, at least in terms of results. Laine immediately got a taste of the goal when Montreal defeated the New York Islanders in overtime with goals 2–1.
Laine scored his goal with superiority from his familiar position in the second set. This time he didn’t shoot straight Lane Hutson from the pass, but accurately placed the puck in the net.
After the goal, Montreal’s fanatical Home crowd cheered Lainee long and loudly. The Finn generally received an exceptional reception from the home crowd and a lot of attention throughout the evening. Local reporters in Montreal also asked Lainee after the game about the crowd’s reaction.
– It was the most shocking thing I’ve heard in my entire life. I feel like I don’t deserve this at all,” Laine said after the game.
– But it’s definitely something I’ll remember for the rest of my life. It was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. As I said on the ice, I am grateful to be here, the Finn continued.
The Islanders countered Laine’s hit in the second period, but in overtime Nick Suzuki settled the game for Montreal by Mike Matheson preliminary work.
A conversation with a therapist
Laine has been sidelined for the beginning of the season due to his leg injury. In addition, he was in the NHL’s treatment program for a few months in the spring, and has not played since December of last year. That’s when he was injured in a Columbus shirt.
– I talked to my therapist about this match when I was a little nervous. I decided that wearing this shirt today is an achievement after everything (I’ve been through). And everything I get after that is only a plus, Laine began and continued:
– It doesn’t matter how it goes. My game is not bad because I worked hard to put on this shirt. This was better than I expected, but there is still work to be done.
In Colorado, there’s a lot going on
The Colorado Avalanche got back to winning ways when they defeated the Buffalo Sabers 5-4. He was responsible for the solution Artturi Lehkonenwho shoveled the puck into the net just over four minutes before the final buzzer.
Colorado had a rough start, as the goalkeeper was in big trouble in the early season Alexander Georgiev conceded four goals in the opening round. To have replaced him by Scott Wedgewood and after the break, Colorado caught on.
Kiri’s chief architect Nathan MacKinnon (2+1) scored a goal in the second period, but in the third period Colorado scored four goals.
The Finnish striker started the furious goal production Joel Kiviranta. Mikko Rantanen got his 20th assist of the season when MacKinnon directed the Finnish shot into the net.
Tolvanen sneered at Kraken
The Seattle Kraken, on the other hand, broke their three-match losing streak at the expense of the Carolina Hurricanes with a score of 4–2.
Finnish striker Eeli Tolvanen scored his seventh goal of the season in the second period and took the game to 2–1. Sebastian Ahon the kickoff to the Hurricanes’ tying goal ultimately failed to turn the game around when Yanni Gourde and Brandon Tanev both succeed in the deciding set.
