A woman who was to undergo cosmetic surgery at a clinic in Solna died after a tragic mistake.
Instead of getting the trachea in her trachea, she mistakenly got it in her esophagus.
Now the clinic is considering closing the business after sharp criticism from the Inspectorate for Care and Care, Ivo.
It was during a cosmetic operation at a plastic surgery clinic in Solna north of Stockholm that a female patient died in December 2023.
According to documentation from the Karolinska hospital, the woman had the trachea inserted into her esophagus instead of her trachea when she was anaesthetized, reports In the middle of Solna.
The woman was taken to Karolinska Hospital where she was treated in intensive care for life-threatening injuries, but her life could not be saved.
Ivo directs sharp criticism

“It cannot be ruled out that it had an impact on the course of events that resulted in the death of a patient,” IVO wrote about the flaws in its decision.
Causing the death of another

The clinic may close
The clinic states in a reply to Ivo that they have remedied several shortcomings that Ivo pointed out in his investigation.
In the same statement, the operations manager states that, following the death, it has been tentatively decided to wind down the entire operation, and that all planned operations have been canceled due to the incident.
TV4 Nyheterna has sought a comment from those responsible at the clinic. But an employee at the clinic, who answers the phone, says that they traveled abroad and are not in Sweden.
