Patient died of head injuries after hospital trip

A patient in Kronoberg County suffered such severe head injuries during a hospital trip that he later died. The police have started an investigation into causing the death of another, reports Smålandsposten.

The patient, who was in a wheelchair, was to be transported to his home, a residence without an elevator. The staff used a so-called stair climber to get the wheelchair up with the patient, but the man fell and was seriously injured.

– What happened is of course very sad and regrettable. It is important that it is investigated in every way, that the police investigate it and that we look at it internally, says traffic director Pär Welander at Länstrafiken Kronoberg to the newspaper.
