After the dental visit, a 41-year-old patient became ill. The infection tracing showed that he had been infected with hepatitis B at the dentist, who is now being prosecuted for causing illness, Sydsvenskan reports.

Hepatitis B causes inflammation in the liver and is classified as a disease of general danger. Since the man who fell ill had not been abroad, tattooed or had unprotected sex with someone other than his wife, the interest was directed towards the private dental clinic, which had already been criticized by the Health and Care Inspectorate for deficiencies in hygiene.

It turned out that a patient with hepatitis B had visited there the day before the 41-year-old got there. The men’s virus also had identical genetic mass. The infection was probably transmitted due to poorly cleaned instruments.

The incident has led to the dentist losing his dental license and now he is being prosecuted for causing illness, alternatively causing danger to another.
