Path of Exile players are frustrated by a mechanic that has historically been considered worthwhile. We at MeinMMO show you what it’s all about.
What mechanics is it? Players are frustrated with the Archnemesis mechanic.
Archnemesis used to be rewarding, now it’s just frustrating
Why wasn’t Archnemesis used to be a problem? Archnemesis is one of the aspects that YouTuber ZiggyD mentions in his detailed summary as a reason for the frustration of PoE players.
Some of the modifiers are considered frustrating by players, but this wasn’t an issue when Archnemesis was released. The players created their own strong opponents and were accordingly responsible for frustrating fights themselves.
Overall, the annoyance with the loot that players received through the Archnemesis expansion at the time was worth it. But that all changed with the release of the Sentinel expansion.
Why is Archnemesis so unpopular since the Sentinel expansion? When the Path of Exile Sentinel expansion was released in May 2022, the frustrating Archnemesis modifiers were added to all rare monsters in the game.
On top of that, the players said goodbye with the expansion of worthwhile loot through Archnemesis opponents. Additionally, since the original rewards from Archnemesis enemies no longer drop, the rare monsters became more frustrating, but not more rewarding.
Reddit user Filthytricks shared a video of battling Archnemesis opponents:

What the players say: Path of Exile players find the Archnemesis monsters frustrating and the game is no longer fun for some.
