Story campaign should last between 40 and 50 hours

Completing the story campaign for the first time, which will consist of six major acts in Path of Exile 2, is expected to take between 40 and 50 hours, as Jonathan Rogers says in the interview.

About 30 minutes per boss zone, so for players who have never played Path of Exile or other ARPG games such as Diablo. After players become familiar with the game, completing the campaign will take a similar amount of time to Path of Exile.

One notable piece of information revealed during the conversation is that it will not be possible to skip bosses in Path of Exile 2. Players whose characters are too weak or unprepared have the choice to buy new armor, reach a higher level or learn mechanics better to meet the challenge.

Accessibility for newcomers

The complexity of Path of Exile was also addressed. The developers are aware that the game is known to be complex, but are actively working to improve accessibility – including the skill gem.

They try to improve accessibility without sacrificing unique and complex elements of the game. It should be designed to be appealing to both veterans and newcomers.

What is still planned, among other things:

  • PoE2 plans to introduce almost twice as many Ascendancy classes (36 in total) as in PoE, which should lead to a variety of new archetypes and builds.
  • Overall, the developers are betting that Path of Exile 2 will be as big or even bigger than any other action RPG.
  • Path of Exile 2 should offer more endgame content. You want to make sure there are plenty of challenges and rewards to make the end game interesting.
  • There will be no XP loss in the campaign, but resetting the bosses is considered sufficient punishment. However, there will be an XP penalty in the final game, but he has not yet revealed what form it will take.
  • Closed beta in June 2024

What about the beta? Rogers also provided information about the upcoming beta version, which will launch in June. The beta will include virtually all planned content for Path of Exile 2, including the six acts and 60 final maps.

The beta starts on June 7, 2024.

The only exceptions are the remaining cards and part of the endgame. This comprehensive beta release allows Grinding Gear Games (GGG) to effectively test the economics and functionality of the entire game. The beta should last at least six months.

Beta invite distribution is expected to be similar to Path of Exile 3.0, according to mmorpg.org. This means that there will be a counter on the official website that will grant a random player access to the closed beta every few minutes. In addition, alternative invitation waves and automatic invitations are conceivable for players who have previously purchased microtransactions (packages). In other words, players who regularly support the developers by purchasing the PoE packages.

These are just speculations, no more details are known yet.
