Patch 11.0.7’s best feature won’t be ready on time

Not everything is going according to plan in the development of Patch 11.0.7 for World of Warcraft. A feature is now postponed and will not come until 2025.

Some features in World of Warcraft have been criticized for a long time, including the profession system. It’s quite complex and if you take the time to understand it, you can make a lot of gold and have fun with it. But one aspect of this is still causing frustration in the second expansion since the new system was introduced. Because anyone who gives out professional knowledge will no longer be reimbursed.

This is how it will continue in the next patch:

What’s the problem with jobs? Professions have become quite complex since Dragonflight. There is no longer just one big choice like “weaponsmith” or “armorsmith”, but rather a complex talent system that is filled with job knowledge.

The big problem here is that the distribution of talent points (“professional knowledge points”) is permanent. Anyone who starts out as a tailor and invests a lot of money in the production of work clothing and then realizes that they would actually rather make useful equipment for PvE is either looking for a loss – or having to spend a lot, a lot of time.

There was no “second chance” here. The distribution was permanent.

Ultimately, this limitation isn’t so wild. Because at some point a craftsman will be able to do everything in his profession, but that can take many months – many reached this state in Dragonflight only a few weeks before the launch of the new add-on.

Respec was supposed to improve professions, but it’s not happening for now

What was Blizzard planning? In Patch 11.0.7, Blizzard wanted to introduce a feature that allows a “Respec”, i.e. a new distribution of professional knowledge. This should suit everyone who gave their points a little thoughtlessly because they weren’t aware of the permanence of their decision – or who invested in completely pointless specializations.

What exactly should that look like? There were no exact details about this feature yet – after all, it wasn’t ready for testing yet and nothing reliable could be derived from data mining. However, it seems clear that redistributing knowledge points requires restrictions – either a large cooldown of several weeks or a certain cost factor, such as the loss of some of the knowledge points.

Otherwise everyone would simply constantly redistribute professional knowledge depending on what they want to produce. But that would then reduce the system to absurdity, in which players can develop a reputation for having completed a certain specialization.

We won’t find out exactly what the feature will look like until the PTR of the next major update, i.e. Patch 11.1, at the earliest. But it shouldn’t land on the test server until late Advent at the earliest. WoW currently has some problems – for example lags caused by your fellow players.
