Passengers evacuated from broken train – delays traffic

A stationary train causes disturbances in train traffic south of Stockholm in both directions.

Passengers on the stationary train must be evacuated.

– We take a similar express train from Stockholm central and the 50 or so passengers who are to be evacuated can get on a similar train, says Jonas Olsson, press communicator at SJ.

The train from Stockholm central to Oslo left the platform at 06.04 on Friday morning. Ten minutes later, the security system indicated that something was wrong. The train had to stop and it now affects both long-distance and regional trains that operate the line.

Somewhere between Årstaberg and Södertälje, the 50 or so passengers on board the train will have to change trains. The train has Forecast when the train service will run as usual again is missing.

This is the second hot running alarm in just a few days, what is the cause?

– It is not unusual for it to be like this when it is winter with ice and snow. It cannot be ruled out that it will happen more times, says Jonas Olsson, press communicator at SJ.

– It is a very strained situation overall for the trains. No matter where you go, it’s harder now. Our vehicles wear much harder now. We have made a lot of preparations but de-icing a train can take hours.
