Ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas are progressing, Egyptian security sources told Reuters.

Among other things, the parties agree on how long a ceasefire should last and on the exchange of prisoners from both sides, according to the sources.

What they are not supposed to have agreed on is a withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.

US President Joe Biden still hopes a six-week truce can take effect before the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan begins on March 10 or 11, he said on Friday night.
