Cave Jam, founded by Ataberk Palacıoğlu, one of the game producers of StartGate, was held this year at StartGate Campus, the largest Digital Game and Game Technologies Entrepreneurship Center in Europe and the Middle East. Game developers participating from different provinces of Turkey developed a game with the theme of “Mysterious Machine” at the Cave Jam’23 event, which was held between 16-19 November and lasted 72 hours.

BROADCASTS WERE WATCHED FOR 6 THOUSAND 532 HOURS

Cave Jam, which has been held for 7 years, achieved a record attendance this year, hosted by StartGate. Turkey’s largest game development event, Mağara Jam, met with developers with 150 physical participants and 5 thousand 350 online participants.

The Cave Jam website was launched after the event and received more than 166 thousand traffic and more than 520 thousand interactions in the first 48 hours. While the games on the website received more than 40 thousand downloads in total in 3 days; Live broadcasts on YouTube were watched by more than 100 thousand people, received 1 million 343 thousand 500 views in total, and the broadcasts were watched for more than 6 thousand 532 hours in total. At the event, game developers, as well as investors, influencers and other stakeholders in the ecosystem, came together at StartGate Campus.

Pointing out that they have been doing this job for 3 years, Mağara Jam Founder Ataberk Palacıoğlu said, “It was an incredibly fun event. There was a warm environment where our participants both produced and had fun. We’ve received great reviews both physically and online. “As Cave, we will continue to improve what we do,” he said. StartGate CEO Mustafa Cihat Durmuş said, “It was an event with more intense participation than we expected. “As all the needs of the participants were taken into consideration by StartGate, they were able to devote all of their motivation and energy to game development, and thus hundreds of creative and successful games were created,” he said.

405 GAMES WERE DEVELOPED, THE BEST WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT STARTGATE ON DECEMBER 9

405 games were developed during the 72-hour Cave Jam marathon. The games will first be submitted to the public vote and then to the vote of the Cave Jam pre-jury. In the final jury voting, which is the last stage, the developed games will be evaluated according to the criteria of visuality, originality, game design, sound and music, story and concept, and compatibility with the theme.

The first 15 winning teams will be given Cave Loot Crate. In addition, the teams in the top 3 are; Support will be provided, including the right to benefit from StartGate’s mentoring, training and infrastructure opportunities. The winners of the adventure, where the best 15 games will be determined on November 28, will be announced at the “Cave Jam’23 Final” to be held at StartGate on December 9.
