When a well-known and iconic brand is relaunched, many fans are skeptical. To the Star Trek reboot from 2009 has nevertheless succeeded in giving the Enterprise a new coat of paint, which has met with a great deal of approval. With Star Trek, JJ Abrams successfully revived the franchise in cinemas.
Four years later, the extremely dark sequel Star Trek Into Darkness followed, before 2016 Star Trek Beyond hit the cinemas. The structure of the third part of the sci-fi series is based more on the classic Starship Enterprise episodes and tells an exciting adventure on a strange planet.

Unfortunately, Star Trek Beyond is the last installment to date in the great series, which was mainly inspired by the dynamic of their cast lives. Chris Pine (Kirk), Zoe Saldana (Uhura) and Zachary Quinto (Spock) make a fine trio, not to mention Karl Urban (Bones) and Simon Pegg (Scotty) who regularly steal scenes from the others.

We may never know how the journey of the young Enterprise crew ends. Paramount has been trying to position Star Trek 4 for years. So far, however, the project failed again and again. The disappointing box office result of the predecessor and the high fees of the stars don’t make things any easier.
Although Star Trek 4 even has one in the meantime Theatrical release in June 2023 was announced, the odds that we’ll ever see the film are slimmer than ever. Four directors have already turned their backs on the production: SJ Clarkson, Noah Hawley, Kalinda Vazquez and Matt Shakman.
Paramount recently surprised with the announcement of a completely new Star Trek film: Star Trek: Section 31. It has nothing to do with the films from the Abramsverse, but emerged as a spin-off from the Star Trek: Discovery series. Michelle Yeoh returns as Emperor Philippa Georgiou return.
The next twist: Star Trek: Section 31 is not coming to the cinema. Instead, the film is made exclusively for the Paramount+ streaming service. It is scheduled to appear after the Star Trek Discover finale, which will be released in either 2024 or 2025. Meanwhile, no sign of life can be found from Star Trek 4. But hope dies last.
