Several far-right parties are participating in the Romanian parliamentary elections, which are expected to get a significant vote share together.
Romania is voting today in the parliamentary elections after a surprise presidential election round.
The extreme right, which was surprisingly successful in the presidential elections, is expected to do well in the parliamentary elections as well, where votes are expected to be more widely dispersed than before. Voters are offered several different far-right parties, which are predicted to get a total of more than 30 percent of the vote.
Last Sunday, the country held the first round of the presidential election, from which surprise candidates advanced to the second round. For example, the prime minister, who is considered the pre-favorite of the presidential candidates Marcel Ciolacu dropped out of the second round, although the presidential election votes have been ordered to be counted again.
However, Ciolacu’s Social Democratic Party is the favorite to win the parliamentary elections in opinion polls, although its support has plummeted during the elections.
The polling stations close at nine in the evening, and the first predictions are expected soon after.
