Paris Nice 2023 the profile of the 5th stage

The 4th stage of Paris Nice which arrived at the top of the Loge des Gardea was won by the double winner of the Tour de France Tadej Pogacar.

July to March, that’s how we could sum up the 3rd stage of Paris Nice. Expected, the Pogacar – Vingegaard duel took place and it’s the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar who took the lead over the Dane, outgoing winner of the Tour de France. Only David Gaudu, the Frenchman from Groupama FDJ was able to keep up with the pace of the UAE Emirates rider before losing in the sprint. By winning the stage, Tadej Pogacar also took the leader’s yellow jersey.

For this 4th stage this Thursday March 9, the riders will cover 212 kilometers with four climbs on the program, all at the start of the route before a long plain exposed to the wind which could cause some damage. The difficulties of the day are as follows: Côte de Coise (1.5km at 8.2%) followed by the Côte de l’Aubépin (5.2km at 4.4%) and finally the Côte de Trèves (2.4km at 5.8%), located within 33 kilometres. The very last climb of the day will be at kilometer 181: Côte d’Aleyrac (4.6km at 4.8%). A long breakaway could be a victory unless the sprinters’ teams don’t want to miss this opportunity.

With his victory at Fontainebleau, Mads Pedersen took the lead in the general classification of Paris-Nice. Slovenian Tadej Pogacar has made more time and is now second two seconds behind the Dane.
