More than 20 electric scooter deaths were recorded in Paris last year. The city has limited the activities of companies that rent electric scooters, but soon the renting may stop completely.
The city administration of Paris is to decide in the coming days whether to completely ban the renting of electric scooters in the city. According to preliminary information, the mayor Anne Hidalgo is leaning towards a ban.
On Thursday, yet another e-scooter died in the city when he collided with a truck. Last year, 22 electric scooter deaths were recorded in the city.
In addition, the authorities receive frequent complaints about loitering on the sidewalks, and about parking the boards no matter what.
Years ago in Paris, the number of companies that rent boards was limited to three. The trio received permission to rent a total of 15,000 boards. In September, the authorities gave the companies a month to take measures to discipline the boarders or they would lose their licenses.
