Parents can learn more about children’s gambling during the LAN in Huskvarna

The lecture is a collaboration between Gameffect and Folkuniversitetet and the aim is for children to find a balance between playing, exercise, sleep and a good diet. Another aim is for parents to become more involved in their children’s computer gaming and to be able to find a good balance together with the children.

– As a child, it is important that the parents are there as a pillar of support and help when boundaries have to be set, says Filippa Ahlberg at Gameffect, which organizes the LAN in Huskvarna.

More lectures to come

The lecture is part of a project to bring about more sustainable gaming. Some parents tuned in to listen to Filippa Ahlberg who talked about the risks of too much gambling, such as deteriorating health due to reduced physical activity.

But she also highlighted the positive effects that computer gaming can have such as relaxation, improved coordination, increased English skills and that it provides a social context for many.

The aim is to continue with the lectures going forward in different contexts.

The children on autumn holiday who gathered at the LAN in Huskvarna on Sunday and Monday will have the opportunity to participate in a series of tournaments in e-sports, including in Minecraft.
