Stating that a significant part of these patients were diagnosed in the womb, and some of them appeared as a result of some symptoms after birth, Çil said, “When the child goes to the doctor with symptoms such as rapid breathing, excessive sweating, inability to gain weight, frequent pneumonia and bronchitis, doctors suspect heart disease.” There is a heart sound called ‘murmur’. prof. Dr. Çil stated that the most common conditions in congenital heart diseases are heart holes, valve diseases and factors related to postnatal diseases, respectively. Çil stated that one of the biggest causes of this disease is genetics. Emphasizing that it is possible to treat such diseases, Çil said, “I have been doing this job for about 33 years. When I first started, we could not treat a very important part of the diseases, but now we can treat almost 99 percent of them. Technology and science developed so fast that at that time, ‘This is not a cure.’ We can easily treat the diseases we call, the diseases we fear.” said.
CHILDREN WITH SYMPTOMS MUST PASS THE HEART CHECK
Stating that symptoms such as rapid breathing, rapid heartbeat, excessive sweating to change, not gaining weight at the expected level, frequent pneumonia and bronchitis can be seen in children compared to other children, they can also be seen due to heart diseases, as in other diseases, Çil said. PEOPLE WITH HEART DISEASE AS CHILDREN TOLD THE DISEASE AND THEIR TREATMENTS
Ayfer Sayir (45), who was operated on and recovered due to a congenital heart disease, stated that she was diagnosed with a heart hole in her infancy. Sayr stated that she did not experience any problems during her young maidenhood and that they thought the disease had passed, and continued her words as follows:
“I was 27-28 years old. I got very sick one evening. The doctor I went to the emergency room for a throat infection said that I had a serious heart problem and referred me to a cardiologist. I went to several cardiologists and was told that I had to have heart surgery. After the surgery I had, the hole in my heart was closed. It was a successful operation. After that, I didn’t have any complaints, I got better. It’s been about 17 years, I’m very healthy now.”
Ruya Iklim Karahan (31) who was treated for heart disease, stated that she was diagnosed with cardiac rheumatism in childhood, and that she was given an injection until the age of 18 after drug treatment.
