Parents and brother charged with murder of woman in Lessebo

According to a press release from the prosecutor, the 23-year-old brother has admitted that it was he who murdered the woman. But her parents are also charged with the same crime as the brother – murder and violation of grave peace.

– The three suspects have together and in agreement carried out the murder of the 22-year-old woman during the evening of May 3, 2024 with the aim of maintaining the family’s honor. The body was then placed and burned, on two occasions, in the wind shelter in the area of Ekebacken in Lessebo where she was then found, says chamber prosecutor Anna-Karin von Schoultz in the press release.

Strangled the woman when the parents were in the car

However, both parents deny participation in the crimes, despite the brother stating that both the mother and father were in the car when the woman was strangled.

– The evidence consists of statements from suspects and witnesses but also DNA, positioning from mobile phones, purchases made, surveillance footage and connections to a Bluetooth device in the car that was used during the evening and night, says Anna-Karin von Schoultz.

The prosecutor has thus charged all three of them with murder, but secondarily demands that the parents be sentenced for inciting and aiding and abetting murder and grave breach of privacy.

Part of the evidence that the murder has an honorable motive is the information that appears in the police report that the woman herself made about six months before the murder.
