Paramount release date in France price integration with Canal

It is one of the new subscription streaming services expected in France, Paramount + wants to find a place against Netflix, Disney + or even Prime Video. But what content will be offered and at what price? Here’s what you need to know.

Launched in 2014 as CBS All Access then renamed Paramount+ in March 2021, the streaming by subscription from Paramount intends to develop in Europe in 2022. In France, this new content offer should see the light of day by the end of the year without further details. It will notably serve as a base camp for the original Halo series, adaptation of the famous video games that have carried the Xbox brand since 2001. Also home of Paramount Pictures films including Mission Impossible, Transformers and Sonic, but also many Showtime, CBS, Comedy Central, MTV or Nickelodeon Paramount+ want to attract a large audience. When will we be able to subscribe to this new service in France? What price will it cost? What content can we see there? We take stock.

This is one of the questions around Paramount +, the release date of the service in France is not yet known. We do know, however, that European expansion is scheduled for the second half of 2022. In France, Paramount+ should appear by the end of the year. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the arrival of Paramount+ in France could take place in December 2022.

Paramount has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Canal++ in France. The operator of the French encrypted channel will therefore make Paramount+ available to its subscribers to the Canal+ Ciné Séries pack. A priori, this inclusion in the offer should be done at no additional cost to subscribers. As a reminder, the Canal+ Ciné Séries subscription includes – among other things – Netflix and Disney+ in MyCanal. This offer is offered at the price of €34.99 per month (for a commitment period of two years) and at €40.99 per month if you do not wish to be committed.

If you do not wish to subscribe to Paramount+ via the Canal Ciné Séries subscription, it will be possible to subscribe directly via the Paramount+ application when it is launched in France. At the moment, the service has not yet lifted the veil on its prices in France but the prices charged in the United States can be good indicators. Across the Atlantic, Paramount+ is offered in two offers: one at $4.99 per month with in-app ads, the other at $9.99 per month without ads. Nothing has been announced for the moment on European prices but it is to be expected that the prices in euros will be relatively similar, between 5 and 10€.

This is obviously the sinews of war for a subscription streaming platform, content is of paramount importance to allow Paramount+ to distinguish itself from the competition. Paramount+ prides itself on having several thousand programs to offer in its catalog. Among these, the films of the Paramount Pictures studios (Mission Impossible, Transformers, Sonic…), but also the Showtime series (let us mention Dexter, Homeland or more recently Yellowjackets) but also CBS (The Experts, The Mentalist) or even Comedy Central series and programs (including Trevor Noah’s Daily Show but also and above all the animated series South Park). Also note that Paramount+ also includes a lot of MTV content, for teens, but also Nickelodeon, for the family, including the cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants. Paramount+ also plans to serve as the home of its own original series. It is in this context that the Halo series was produced, adapted from the video games of the same name and launched on March 24, 2022 on Paramount+ in the United States.
