The long-running show Idol is currently broadcast on TV4, and is in its twentieth season. Darin, Agnes Carlsson, Danny Saucedo, Loreen and Måns Zelmerlöw are just a few examples of artists who have had their big break thanks to their participation in “Idol”.
The changes in “Idol” 2024
Over the years, “Idol” has been part of the Swedes’ Friday tradition, but for the 2024 season, several changes were made. The program has always been broadcast on Fridays, but has now been moved to Saturdays instead.
– In recent years, we have seen that the large number of episodes we have had early in the season has made it a little more difficult to find your way into “Idol”. Now we believe that by making a big weekend entertainment, the whole audience should have the opportunity to get in properly right from the start, says TV4’s channel and content director Fredrik Arefalk said according to TT.

The new members of the “Idol” jury
Another aspect that looks different in this year’s season is that half the jury has been replaced. The former members Kishti Tomita and Alexander Kronlund are no longer on the “Idol” jury, but have instead been replaced by Peg Parnevik and Ash Pournouri.

Mauri Hermundsson was a sidekick in “Idol”
But something that is similar is who leads the popular program. In 2011, TV4 announced that Pär Lernström would take over the baton from Peter Jihde as host for “Idol”. And since then he has become an obvious part of the concept and the channel. And even in 2024, it is Pär Lernström who guides the viewers through the show.

But this time is also the popular profile Mauri Hermundsson sidekick to Pär Lernström. Mauri leads the popular “Uppdrag Mat”, and has also had his own TV4 program “Mauri – what happened then?”. The latest on the profile’s impressive CV is that he has launched his very own chips.

But when the live broadcasts started, Mauri suddenly disappeared from the screen. It was then clear that he has done his part in this year’s “Idol” and will not participate any more in the current season.
– This autumn I am busy recording another program for TV4. I look forward to telling you more about it in the future, says Mauri TV4.
News24 met Pär Lernström at Kristallen 2024, and then asked if he and the new Idol colleague have taken any “after work” during the recording.
– We had an AW during the recording last spring. It was sad. I think Mauri drank a non-alcoholic berry and I drank a regular berry. And then it was over. So this is not a super cool bunch. But that was it.
