Panasonic has released a promotional video for a new camera, and all signs point to it being the G9 Mark II. In the video, the letter “G” used to indicate Panasonic’s Micro Four Thirds cameras, as well as the camera’s phase detection to autofocus implying that he will have “NEW PHASE” The statement is included. This is a significant upgrade over the original G9, which only had contrast-detection autofocus.
The video also shows a lens mount and sensor, confirming that the camera will be a Micro Four Thirds model. This is good news for photographers who want the portability and flexibility of a mirrorless camera but don’t want to compromise on image quality.
The G9 Mark II is expected to be announced on September 12, 2023. It is said to have a 20.3 MP Micro Four Thirds sensor, 4K60 video recording feature and a weather-resistant body. Autofocus performance is also expected to increase thanks to the addition of phase detection autofocus.
