The Palestinian president’s controversial remarks are strongly condemned in Israel, but also by France and the European Union. Mahmoud Abbas gave a speech at the end of August in Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank, in which he notably affirmed that “Hitler did not kill the Jews because they were Jews”.
