Pair clash, man charged: Chatham-Kent police

A man faces an assault charge after two people clashed in Chatham, Chatham-Kent police say.

Witnesses told officers a man assaulted a woman twice during an argument on King Street Sunday, police said. The man left before officers arrived and an arrest warrant was obtained.

A suspect was arrested on Wellington Street in Chatham about 11:30 am Monday, police said.

A Chatham-Kent man, 41, is charged with two counts of assault, police said. He was held pending a bail hearing.

Man faces fraud, other charges

Officers caught up to a man wanted in a fraud probe after responding to another call, Chatham-Kent police say.

Officers called to investigate suspicious activity at a Richmond Street parking lot in Chatham about 7:30 pm Monday arrested a man wanted on an outstanding warrant, police said.

The warrant related to an August 2023 fraud probe in which money was removed from a bank account using stolen checks, police said.

A man is charged with possessing stolen property, uttering forged documents, identity fraud and fraud under $5,000, police said. He was released with an April 29 short date.

Traffic stop ends in arrest

A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant after a Wallaceburg traffic stop, Chatham-Kent police say.

Officers who pulled over a vehicle on Dufferin Avenue about 9 pm Monday confirmed a man inside was wanted in a February theft probe, police said

A Walpole Island man, 45, is charged with theft and possessing stolen property, police said. He was released with a May 6 short date.
