After pagers exploded simultaneously in Lebanon, injuring more than 2,000 people, a statement was made by the company that manufactures the devices. A Taiwanese company official announced that they did not manufacture the devices that exploded, but rather that a company in Budapest, which they licensed, manufactured them.
GOLD APOLLO MADE AN EXPLANATION
Gold Apollo, the Taiwanese manufacturer of the exploding pagers, announced in a statement to the press today that they do not manufacture the devices themselves. Gold Apollo Company President Hsu Ching-kuang stated at the press conference that they authorized BAC Consulting, a company based in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, to manufacture the pager under their brand three years ago.
HE THREW THE BALL TO BAC
Hsu Ching-kuang said at a press conference today, “Apollo Gold Corporation has established a long-term private label authorization and regional agency cooperation with BAC. According to the agreement, we authorize BAC to use our brand to sell products in certain regions, but the design and manufacturing of the products are entirely handled by BAC.
“WE HAVE NO INTEREST IN PRODUCTION”
“Regarding the recent media reports about the AR-924 pager, we would like to clarify that this model is manufactured and sold by BAC. We only authorize the brand and have nothing to do with the design or production of this product. We always adhere to relevant regulations and maintain transparent and harmonious cooperation with our partners,” he said.
‘SECRET OPERATION’ CLAIM
It has been claimed that Israel detonated the pagers out of concern that Hezbollah might detect the Tel Aviv administration’s “covert operation” on these devices.
The US news platform “Axios” included some details about the attacks carried out by detonating pagers in Lebanon yesterday.
THEY WERE WORRIED THAT THEY WOULD NOTICE
The report, based on unnamed US sources, noted that the explosion of the pagers took place at a time when tensions between Israel and Hezbollah were escalating.
It has been claimed that the Israeli administration is concerned that Hezbollah may detect the “secret operation” on the pagers in recent days.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and senior military and intelligence officials decided to detonate the devices out of concern that Hezbollah might detect the “trap” in the pagers, a US official has claimed.
THEY DID NOT INFORM THE US
The report stated that during a visit to Israel on September 16 by US President Joe Biden’s Senior Advisor Amos Hochstein, Netanyahu held security consultations with army and intelligence officials on whether the attack in Lebanon should be carried out.
It was reported that Netanyahu did not inform the US official about yesterday’s attack plan in Lebanon during his meeting with Hochstein.
It was reported that shortly before the pagers in Lebanon were detonated, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant spoke on the phone with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.
During the meeting, Gallant reportedly informed Austin that Israel would conduct an “operation” in Lebanon, but did not share details of the attack.
