Now the mystery of the dead woman in Söderåsen National Park can be solved.
– Hopefully it will be an end. It is so tragic that she has been dead for so long without anyone knowing who she is, says Mikael Jensen, operations manager at the voluntary organization Fikk Sweden.
On May 22, hikers found the dead woman in Skäralid in Söderåsen National Park in Skåne. The body was lying against a tree in an inaccessible area.
The woman is still unidentified.
On Sunday, volunteers from Fikk Sweden were out looking for a missing person in the local area. They decided to take a walk around the place where the woman was found dead.
Ten meters from where the woman’s body was found, the labrador Saga marked a pile of stones. Dog handler Vikki Fenton Anderberg picked up some stones and found the hidden packages.
Helsingborgs Dagblad be the first with the news.
– There were three or four packages, neatly and neatly wrapped in plastic bags. Among other things, there was a handbag, wallet, bus card and some type of ID document. I don’t know if it was an ID card or a driver’s license. We didn’t open the packages but handed everything over to the police, says Mikael Jensen.
– We have high hopes that this will be resolved now, says Commissioner Kent Persson of serious crimes at the Helsingborg police.
Police are awaiting the final results of forensic examinations.
– At the end of this week or at the beginning of next, I think we can be completely sure that it is the right person, says Kent Persson.
The things hidden under the stones belonged to a Swedish woman.
Diana cardigan with llamas
The police do not suspect any crime in connection with the woman’s death. They don’t know how long she lay dead in the forest.
The middle-aged woman was found well dressed and prepared to be out in the woods and fields. She was dressed in layers upon layers, with shell clothes, fleece sweater, hat and boots.
The police believe that she had lived out in the forest for some time before she died and that she lived an orderly life before she went out into the forest for some reason. It is an opinion the police have formed from, among other things, her possessions and her well-kept teeth.
The woman had a carefully packed backpack with her. Among other things, there was a very special sleeveless cardigan decorated with llamas. It resembles a Peruvian-style sweater that became known as the “Diana Sweater” after the young princess was photographed wearing one.
The police have previously released pictures of the woman’s jacket in the hope that someone will recognize it.
Among the woman’s belongings was also a small wooden statuette of an angel.
– It feels good for those of us who have worked on this that it now seems to be resolved. And it will surely feel good for her relatives too. Burying an unidentified person feels strange and somehow undignified. Now her relatives can get the chance to say goodbye for real, says Kent Persson at the Helsingborg police.
