Oxford County has tapped its chief of paramedic services to take over as interim chief administrative officer.
In a statement Monday, county officials said Ben Addley has been appointed to the role effective Sept. 6, replacing the current top administrator, Michael Duben.
Addley, who joined Oxford County in 2016, has senior-level public sector experience working in paramedic services, health care and emergency management, the county said. He has served on the board of the Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs and sits on various committees and working groups.
During his time with the county’s paramedic service, Addley helped form Oxford’s Ontario Health Team and mobile outreach bus. He was a driving force behind various initiatives, including bringing Canada’s first hybrid ambulances into service and launching a community paramedicine program.
“Addley played a key role during the local COVID-19 pandemic response,” expanding the role of paramedics in safeguarding the community, and “was an active participant and leadership voice at regional and provincial tables,” county officials said.
Ryan Hall, the paramedic service’s deputy chief and manager of operations and performance, is expected to take over as chief for Addley.
Oxford council will begin looking for a new chief administrator at the start of the new council term, beginning Nov. 23, 2022.
