Oxford OPP briefs Officers investigating Ingersoll arson

Provincial police are investigating an intentional fire that was set at an unoccupied home in Ingersoll.

Early Sunday morning, Oxford OPP officers received a report of a structure fire at a King Street home. After officers and firefighters responded to the blaze, the ensuring investigation determined the fire had been deliberate, police said.

Video surveillance was obtained and is being reviewed with the hope of identifying a suspect, police added.

The Oxford OPP crime unit, with help from OPP forensic identification services and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office, is continuing to investigate the fire.

Investigators are urgent neighbors who have not yet spoken to police and may have video surveillance cameras to check their footage.

Woman arrested for arson

A 27-year-old South-West Oxford woman has been charged with arson after police responded to reports of a suspicious person at a Hardy Avenue home in Tillsonburg.

Oxford OPP officers located and arrested the suspect after determining she matched the description of a person captured on video reportedly setting a fire at that address.

Some damage was caused to a building on the property, police said.

The accused is slated to appear before the Ontario court of justice in Woodstock at a later date.
