Avid readers in the more rural parts of Oxford County will have more access to library materials this fall, thanks to a two-month expansion of the popular Ox on the Run mobile service.
Article content
Starting this week, the Oxford County Library has added several regular stops for its mobile library unit. Ox on the Run will now make biweekly stops in Beachville, Drumbo, Spingford, Kintore and Hickson until Dec. 20.
Originally launched as a summer outreach program in 2019, Ox on the Run serves to connect Oxford County residents in more rural communities with library materials and resources. The early success of the program prompted its expansion to a year-round project in 2023.
With that expansion, Ox on the Run received a new mobile library unit — a decommissioned ambulance from Oxford County Paramedic Services — and two outreach staff members. The program serves Oxford residents of all ages, offering access to library books, story time programming, internet and computer access, printing services and other resources.

The intent is bring Oxford County’s Library’s array of programs and resources to people who would otherwise have difficulty accessing their closest library branch during regular hours.
