Overwatch lootboxes will not disappear with the first game. Overwatch lootboxes will transfer to Overwatch 2 and unlock automatically
Overwatch lootboxes will automatically unlock when Overwatch 2 launches on October 4, and cosmetic items will transfer to Overwatch 2. Since the first Overwatch with the loot box system will be obsolete, Overwatch 2 will be free and will no longer use the loot box system, it will instead come with the Battle Pass system and in-game store.
Overwatch developer Jon Spector, who attended a Q&A on Reddit. He used the following statements on the subject:
“We’ll provide detailed answers to all your questions right before Overwatch 2 launches, but to put it simply, everything you own will transfer to Overwatch 2, including Overwatch credits, Overwatch League tokens, lootboxes.”
As it can be understood from here, those who played the first game of Overwatch will transfer to the second game for free when the second game comes out.
