Overwatch 2 Season 6 comes with exciting maps

To create excitement ahead of Overwatch 2’s Season 6, Blizzard has announced two new “Invasion”-themed Flashpoint maps, launching on August 10.

The fantasy-themed Season 5 brought a lot of new content to Overwatch 2, and was particularly noted for bringing back the annual summer games event, Lucioball, as well as adding a new game mode called Winston’s Beach Volleyball.

New PvE story missions and hero mastery system

However, Season 6, which Overwatch 2 fans have been waiting for with great anticipation, aims to be one of the greatest seasons ever. Along with the addition of a new support hero and the Hero Mastery System, Overwatch 2 is finally adding PvE story missions after many delays towards this aspect of the game.

With “Invasion”, players will be able to complete three story missions together in Rio de Janeiro, Toronto, and Gothenburg. Influenced by Control and Attack modes, Flashpoint mode presents multiple targets in a match, offering a gameplay experience where two teams battle on new maps to earn the first 3 points.

Blizzard unveils its new maps

Blizzard has previously confirmed the maps for Suravasa and New Junk City, and the company has finally provided a broad overview of both locations via its Overwatch 2 Twitter account. Suravasa is a map based on the Roshani river in India, offering a blend of natural and man-made structures.

The video tour showcases impressive architecture, fountains and temples, as well as trees, sprawling vines, and natural structures integrated into the city. If players look carefully enough, crocodiles can be seen at the mouth of the river.

After this announcement, Blizzard also introduced the New Junk City map in Australia. The map serves as the home for characters like Roadhog, Junker Queen, and Junkrat. Fans can see a dense combination of outback sands and metal structures, similar to Junkertown at the city’s surface level.

Overwatch 2 tries to rise from the ashes

It looks like the new stream of content is likely to arrive at a good time right now. Because the latest news about Overwatch 2 was not very positive. In July, Activision Blizzard laid off about 50 employees, mostly from its eSports division, raising great doubts about the future of the Overwatch League.
