The top three of the Women’s Basketball League are tied, but ToPo is the only one to avoid defeat.
Saana Kujala sank 30 points and collected 14 rebounds, when Tampereen Pyrintö, which he represented, defeated Forssa Alu 100–84 in the women’s Korisliiga.
– The game was not pretty again. We should get a full 40 minutes, but we have made the rest of the games too difficult for ourselves. Fortunately, the last quarters have often been worthy of victories, Kujala commented in the Basketball Association’s press release.
Pyrintö continues in the top tier of the league tied on points (10) with Peli-Karhuje and ToPo. ToPo is the only one of the trio who has won all his matches.
A 46-year-old hero Taru Tuukkanen led ToPo to a victory over Tapiola Honga with a score of 93–69 today. Tuukkanen recorded 24 points, 16 rebounds and eight assists. Also a teammate Magdalene Agyei scored 24 points.
Peli-Karhut roared to a convincing victory over Espoo Basket Team at home in Kotka with a score of 87–57. Kotka’s scorers were Eve Braslis with 20 and Elina Koskimies with 19 points.
Two matches were played in the Men’s Basketball League on Saturday. Helsinki Seagulls’ series points were tight in Loimaa, and the runner-up Bisons took the decision to overtime. The Seagulls won 102–100. The decisive basket was sunk by the Seagulls Lassi Nikkarinen from the free throw line.
The Seagulls’ best scorer was a center Calib Boone With his 25 points and seven rebounds.
Kauhajoki Karhu Basket claimed an away win from Salo Vilppaa with a score of 76–60. Andre Gustavson scored 23 points for the guests. With the win, Kauhajoki moved to level points with league leader Kataja. The Seagulls are behind them in third.
