An accident involving three vehicles occurred on the E20 between Mariestad and Götene at around 8pm on Sunday evening.
– There were a total of ten people in the cars. Four people are said to be seriously injured, two of which are life-threatening, says Göran Carlbom, duty officer at the police, to TT.
One of the seriously injured is a child. Three of those involved have minor injuries and three are said to be unharmed. The accident occurred at the height of Motorp’s rest area, about a mile south of Mariestad. According to the police, it was a hit-and-run accident.
– There is oncoming traffic without a central barrier on this stretch. One of the cars makes an overtaking on the right side, skids and comes over on the wrong side, says Göran Carlbom.
All the injured have been taken to hospital by ambulance. Police and recovery crews are still working at the scene and the road is expected to be closed for several hours.
A report of negligence in traffic will be drawn up.
