Each year, Global Footprint Network calculates “overshoot day” for the world. For 2022, the “overshoot day” for France falls on May 5, about 5 months earlier than in 1961. If the whole world consumed today like the French, it would take 2.9 Earths to meet the needs of inhabitants, specify the American NGO and its partner WWF.

The NGO WWF estimates that France could push back this “overshoot day” by 25 days by 2027, if it embarked on a real policy of “ecological planning”. The explanations of the advocacy director of WWF France, Pierre Cannet, at the microphone of Charlotte Derouin.
