Over seven tons of cocaine were found in Peru – on their way to Europe

The cocaine had been hidden in wooden floor tiles and was found on January 18 by police dogs.

– In the Peruvian market, seven tons of cocaine would be worth over 10 million US dollars, when they arrive at their final destination they are worth over 300 million dollars, says Jyns Ordonez, national superintendent of customs control at Peru’s customs authority Sunat.

This is not the first time a large quantity of cocaine has been seized en route to Europe from South America. Last year, seven and a half tons of cocaine were found hidden in frozen tuna in Spain, Reuters reports.
