One of the trains was stopped in Gagnef from around 6pm on Friday, and could only roll on towards Borlänge nine hours later at 03.30am where the travelers had to check in at hotels.
Travelers on board state that the food in the bistro ran out and that the toilets were closed.
“At 02.20: Well then, we’ll sit here for a while longer then. In the metropolis of Gagnef. The food runs out, toilet after toilet closes down. New forecast 03.15”, writes a stranded traveler in a post on social media.
“Extremely unfortunate”
Leila Fogelholm at SJ’s press service knows about the case of the train that stopped, which must have been the only one during the night. According to her, the fact that the train could not go on for so long was due to the fact that the Swedish Transport Administration constantly moved forward forecasts.
– There were also not enough buses for us to be able to evacuate the travelers, nor were there taxis and hotel rooms. It was very long and extremely unhappy.
The staff on board the train tried to call nearby restaurants to get food when the food ran out in the bistro, according to Leila Fogelholm.
– But we always have emergency water and so-called rawbites that we hand out on occasions like this, they also did that on this train.
