120 women were murdered in Italy last year.
In slightly more than half of the cases, they were murdered by someone they were or had been in a relationship with, according to statistics from the Ministry of the Interior in Rome, which the news agency Ansa reports on.
In about a quarter of the cases, the women were murdered by their own child.
The statistics have been compiled in a report that the Ministry of the Interior is releasing ahead of International Women’s Day on March 8.
