The death toll rises after the earthquake that occurred in Nepal on the night of Saturday.
At least 119 people have died and at least 100 have been injured, according to a police spokesperson.
The spokesman, Gopal Chandra Bhattarai, of the police in the Karnali Province, also told the AFP news agency that it is difficult to obtain information because the affected areas are so inaccessible and remote.
The quake occurred at midnight, local time, on the night of Saturday when many people were sleeping. According to the US Geological Survey, it had a magnitude of 5.6 and was centered in Jajarkot, roughly 40 miles northeast of the capital, Kathmandu.
In the district of Rukum, with several tens of dead at least, many houses have collapsed and rescue workers are searching through the remains.
Indian media reports that the quake was felt in the capital, Delhi. From several places in northern India, people are reported to have run into the streets fearing that their houses would collapse.
Earthquakes are relatively common in Nepal. According to the Times of India, the quake is the third in the country in the past month. In April 2015, around 9,000 people died in an earthquake in the country.
