    A five-story building in Beit Lahia in northern Gaza has been completely destroyed in an Israeli attack.

    At least 93 people have been killed, including women, children and infants. Chaotic scenes are being reported from crowded hospitals in the besieged area.

    – When I went out after sunrise, I saw people dragging bodies, limbs and injured from the racial masses, Rabie al-Shandagly, who sought refuge from the war in a school in Beit Lahia, told the news agency.

    According to reports, up to 200 people, many of them Palestinians fleeing the war, were in the building when it collapsed.

  • Explosion alarm

    Police and emergency services have received an alarm about an explosion in Biskopsgården in Gothenburg.

    The alarm came in at 18.43.

    – We are there now and will investigate whether something has happened, says Fredrik Svedemyr, the police’s press officer.

  • Train stop between Gothenburg and Stockholm

    There is a standstill in the traffic between Gothenburg and Stockholm after an accident, reports P4 Gothenburg.

    The forecast for when train traffic can be up and running again is 20.15.

    SJ’s press service tells the radio that there will probably be consequential delays during the evening.

  • Dead person found in forest

    A dead person was found in a forest on Norra Djurgården in Stockholm on Tuesday afternoon.

    It was a private person who discovered the body and alerted the police.

    – As we do not immediately know what caused the death, we are opening a murder investigation as usual, says police spokesperson Carina Skagerlind.

    The police have carried out a technical investigation and crime scene dogs have been in the area.

    The person is not identified.

  • Explosion at residence in Malmö

    Several have alerted the police about a loud bang in Malmö, the police write on their website.

    The police are on site and ascertain material damage at a residence.

    The alarm came in at 17.52 on Tuesday.

    – There must have been some kind of explosion. The emergency services can see some shards of glass at the scene, says Emil Wadenbo, emergency operator at the emergency services to South Sweden.

    No one is said to have been injured in connection with the explosion.

    – The area is cordoned off and we don’t know at the moment what has exploded, says Patric Fors, spokesperson for the police.

    The police have cordoned off the residence and the national bomb disposal unit is on its way to the scene.

    There is currently no criminal classification, but the police say that it is likely to be “publicly dangerous devastation”.

  • Truck and cars in collision

    A traffic accident involving several vehicles has occurred on road 70 in Sala, in the direction of Mora.

    – My understanding now is that a truck and two cars are involved. I have no information on the state of the injuries, but I know that people have been taken away in an ambulance, says Pelle Vamstad, the police’s press officer.

    The accident has a very large impact on traffic.

    According to the Swedish Transport Administration’s forecast, there will be traffic disruptions until 11pm this evening.

  • Ukraine mobilizes 160,000 soldiers

    Ukraine is to mobilize an additional 160,000 troops over the next three months to counter Russian advances on the battlefield.

    “There are plans to call up over 160,000 people,” said Oleksandr Lytvynenko, Secretary General of Ukraine’s Security Council, to the Ukrainian parliament on Tuesday, reports the AFP news agency.

    A security source tells AFP that the recruitment will take place over a three-month period.

  • Fire in villa – open flames

    There is a heavy fire in a villa in Askersund municipality, write Nerikes Allehanda.

    According to the alarm, it is burning with open flames, and the rescue service confirms to the newspaper that the villa is completely engulfed in flames.

    Six units from the rescue service and an ambulance have been alerted to the scene.

  • The armed forces are phasing out the “White Lightning”

    The armed forces buy new skis. The faithful “White Lightning”, which has been in service since the Second World War, is slowly being phased out.

    The M/40, as the ski was designated, was developed after winter equipment had proven useful in the Finnish Winter War.

    “The skis quickly get the nickname ‘white lightning’, a hint that they are not that fast,” writes the state’s Army Museum in a comment to Aftonbladet.

    The new ski will be warp-free and will also have a long service life.

    – Many in the Armed Forces appreciate the White Lightning even though it has many years behind it, says Linnea Andersson, chief engineer at the Armed Forces materiel works.

    Even if the “White Lightning” is slowly being replaced, it will be used for many more years, according to the Swedish Armed Forces.

  • Fire in industrial building – evacuated

    There is a heavy fire in an industrial building in Ramnaslätt in Borås, reports P4 Seven-way.

    There should be smoke coming from the building. The premises have been evacuated.

  • Burglary at SVT

    SVT’s premises at Rosengård in Malmö have been subjected to burglary, reports say P4 Malmö house.

    A window has been smashed and mobile phones and laptops have been stolen, the police told P4.

    The editorial office was inaugurated barely a year ago, and according to SVT there is no known threat to the premises.

    The Jewish Central Council is sticking to the porting of the Left Party from its commemorations for the time being.

    – We will continue the discussion. It’s a discussion we need to have in our board, says chairman Aron Verständig after a meeting with Left-wing leader Nooshi Dadgostar in Stockholm on Tuesday.

    The decision to porta V came earlier in October after several cases where local politicians from the party spoke out anti-Semitic or in support of terrorist organizations. Dadgostar then took the initiative for Tuesday’s meeting with the central council.

  • Kadyrov’s revenge after attack: “No prisoners”

    Ukrainian drones have for the first time hit targets in the Russian sub-republic of Chechnya, about 1,000 kilometers from Ukraine, according to Novaya Gazeta Europe.

    The attack on the Chechen spetsnaz university in Gudermes on Tuesday morning caused a massive fire.

    Now Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov has ordered his soldiers in Ukraine “not to take any Ukrainians prisoner”. In other words, Ukrainian prisoners of war are to be shot dead as revenge for the attack.

    In connection with the opening of the stock exchange on Tuesday, trading was stopped on a few occasions after the share surged 14 percent.

    Russia has so far in 2024 occupied 2,660 square kilometers of Ukraine, which is equivalent to two Öland.

    So far in October, the Russian army has taken 478 square kilometers, reports the AFP news agency.
