The death toll continues to rise after the devastating earthquakes that hit Turkey and Syria on Monday.
So far, over 8,000 people have been reported dead.
Syrian authorities have updated how many people have died in the country after the earthquake, reports the AFP news agency. So far, 2,400 deaths have been confirmed. This brings the total number of confirmed dead in both Syria and Turkey to over 8,300 people.
Meanwhile, World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is warning that time is running out for the thousands of people injured in Monday’s earthquake in Turkey and Syria – and for those still under the rubble.
The World Health Organization (WHO) also warns that those who need help are counted in the millions and not the thousands. According to the WHO, 23 million people live in the vulnerable areas, of which 5 million are considered to belong to “particularly vulnerable populations”.
