The strong earthquake caused houses to collapse in the already flood and landslide-affected Papua New Guinea. At least five people have lost their lives and 1,000 homes are reported to have been destroyed.

The villages around the Sepik River were particularly hard hit by Sunday’s earthquake, which had a magnitude of 6.9.
