About a third of the students at Älvboda free school in Skutskär outside Gävle, 119, are on sick leave on Friday. The cause is believed to be a large outbreak of winter sickness, reports Gefle Dagblad.
– Most of them are about stomach ailments, I’m almost 100% sure about that, says school principal Johan Sennerfeldt to the newspaper.
In addition to the 119 students, ten members of the staff are also ill. These are the same levels of absence as during the pandemic.
The school urges anyone showing symptoms to go home and to be symptom-free for 48 hours before returning. But if the outbreak is not managed, that limit will be changed to 72 hours.
