In California, a fire broke out in the Klamath National Forest on Friday. An area of roughly 72 square kilometers is burning.
Also in Montana, a forest fire has raged and continues to spread. An area of nearly 175 square kilometers has burned there.
Wind and lightning
Wind, lightning and heat have been expected to worsen the situation in California and make it difficult for emergency services to work, AP writes. In some areas, the effort has gone from trying to control the fire to rather protecting buildings and assisting with evacuation.
More than a hundred homes have been evacuated and authorities are urging people to remain vigilant and be ready to leave the area.
