Over 100 applied for police training – none were accepted

Over 100 people expressed interest in taking the police’s new part-time police training (DPU), but none were accepted, reports SVT Värmland.
– I was very surprised, says Kristina Näs, who works in external service and is stationed in Filipstad to the SVT channel.

The police’s pilot project in Värmland, part-time training (DPU) would get more people in sparsely populated areas to train as police officers part-time, and partly remotely, according to SVT Värmland.

The purpose of the project was to attract those who cannot or do not want to study full-time, and when it came time to apply, there was great interest in, among other places, Filipstad in Värmland. Over 100 people registered their interest in the training.

35 of the 100 who applied for the training were sent on to the next step in the application process, but no one got into the training, reports SVT-lokal.

– I was very surprised that no one went on. We had as many as 35 people that we sent away, and they were all good people, says police officer Kristina Näs to the channel.

According to the police, this may be due to the fact that the rating systems have been changed.

– It is most likely that it was due to the grades, and that you did not have the formal authorization. This in turn is due to the fact that the school format and grades have changed, says police inspector Jakob Nordlund Svanlind.

Now the local police hope that the second round of the part-time police training will lead to more colleagues with connections to the area in Filipstad.

– Search again, it’s never too late, says Jakob Nordlund Svanlind to the news channel.

– More are needed, and preferably with anchorage in the area, he continues.
