The popular horror title Resident Evil 4 got a remake after 18 years. But some fans disagree with developer Capcom swapping out a voice actress. The new cast received massive hostilities and were forced to retire.
Why are the fans outraged? On March 23, 2023, Resident Evil 4 (RE4) received a remake after 18 years – many fans of the series have been waiting for this for years. But developer Capcom swapped out Ada Wong’s English voice actress.
The charismatic secret agent is voiced by Lily Gao in the RE4 remake. In the original 2005 version, Jolene Anderson had the voice role.
Parts of the community are apparently not satisfied with the new cast – Lily Gao is fighting hostilities because the players don’t like the voice actress’s voice and the way she set Ada Wong to music.
Voice actress retires: Apparently, some players were so dissatisfied with Lily Gao’s work that posting their frustration on any forums wasn’t enough. They searched the way to Gao’s social media channels.
According to the online magazine PC Gamer, players are said to have left her hate messages on Instagram and Twitter.
Liliy Gao responded to the hostilities and withdrew from her social media channels. As a first step, she disabled the ability to comment on her posts.
Shortly thereafter, she either hid most of her posts from other users or even deleted them completely.
