It was in mid-October that there was a state visit from the Netherlands, and the king Willem-Alexander and queen Máxima’s honor, a gala dinner was arranged at the Royal Palace.
The same week, the Dutch royals acted as hosts and invited to a concert at the Konserthuset in Stockholm.
The Queen was of course present Silvia and king Carl XVI Gustaf. But also the princess Sophia and prince Carl Philip put a golden edge on the evening. Princess Sofia was dressed in a light blue dress designed by the Swedish Ida Lanto.

Princess Sofia about the time in the “Paradise Hotel”
The reactions were not long in coming, and Sofia’s dress was met with harsh criticism. This as many followers thought it was too transparent and revealed far too much. One person even compared Sofia’s look to the reality show ‘Paradise Hotel’.
Sofia Hellqvist was in “Paradise Hotel” in 2005. The year before, she was named “Miss Slitz” by the men’s magazine Slitz. In “The year with the royal family” in SVT in 2015, Sofia told more about the feelings surrounding her time in PH and Slitz.
– It has been written about for many years. Which I think is quite boring. For me it was ten years ago. I have moved on in life. I don’t regret anything, it has built me as a person. But I would not have made those choices today if I had been asked. But I am ready to look ahead, Sofia Hellqvist told SVT at the time.

So, back to the dress then…
In the comment section on the prince couple’s Instagram, the tones are upset.
Here are some reactions to Princess Sofia’s dress:
“The dress is beautiful, but it shows too much. Not fit for a princess”
“Nice color on the dress. But, not so suitable when you see right through it. Looks naked underneath. Way too thin. And not at all suitable for a princess in the limelight!!!!!!”
“Tasteless dress! So tiring with this pointless! Surely there are no longer any requirements for knowledge or background!”
“Thought it was advertising for the Paradise Hotel”
“Slightly see-through dress, but maybe that was on purpose.”
“Fashion in all its glory but inappropriate with transparent in a context like this.”
